About Me!
Hey :)
Chang Kyu or Chang for short! is currently an LA based actor. He is half Korean and Japanese, who grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, Aloha! It was there where he started his journey in high school learning theater. What started as a fun and enjoying way to past the time, soon blossomed into a genuine love and reverence for the craft.
What drew him to performing, was a deep understanding that storytelling, through the arts, has the power to bridge the gap between sharing and connecting with ideas and people across time and space. It is simply limitless!
Chang is receiving his BFA in acting at The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). He has been a part of multiple productions during his time at CalArts. His first production was Island of Servants directed by Christopher Akerlind, a drag show with dancing and music involved! He performed in Love and Information by Caryl Churchill. And Property Rites by Alan Haehnel.
Most notably, Chang has taken part in Hollywood Fringe 2024. Performing in Sunken by Skylar Shen. He played the titular role of Rheuben, exploring the deep and complicated emotions of death and grief. One of the most challenging and fulfilling roles ever played. The play has won the No Room in the Green Room Award.
Exploring other avenues in the arts, he has recently taken up writing. Excited to showcasing his work in poetry and playwriting!
Fun fact, my middle name is Joshua! Like from the Bible!
